An unanticipated benefit of using a five year diary as a teacher, is that being reminded of what things were like a year ago helps me to anticipate and prepare for what's coming up.
I've coped much better with the start to this year as a result.

Every year I forget how hard the first day back is. Looking forward to the year ahead but recuperating this evening with a long walk and cooking a tasty dinner.
