The main, a noodle dish with a little broth and 3 kinds of pork with greens, was similarly amazing. And the mango sticky rice was some of the best I have ever had.

Food destinations in the State College area: Flour and Stone (next to Pine Grove Hall in Pine Grove Mills), is a great date-night destination. Really well crafted menu with delicious offerings and nice wines. The Kitchen Garden by Giant on South Atherton has fabulous Turkish pastries and more.

I gave my paper today for the Society for the Study of Religion at Penn State (SSR). It went over very well, and checks another item off the semester list. I'm putting the final polish on a book review in order to eliminate one more thing on the list. It's always nice to check stuff off.

Happy birthday to poet, author, and activist Langston Hughes! Many of his writings and poetry focused on the African American experience and were influential during the Harlem Renaissance.

Just finished the Starfish early progress reports for my 453 students. Woof. Yes, these are important. But they come at a busy time and are a time-suck. Given how terrified my students seem to be about failure, I tried to be encouraging even for ones who are failing.
