Exactly. The Djinn's punishments get increasingly less whimsical as things go on, which is a shame. It feels like a franchise that's actively ashamed to be itself

It depends on what your exact metrics are. The fx and cameos take a drop off in WM2, but Divoff is a lot of fun. Maybe an A-/B+?

WM3 is Divoff-less & the effects are lacking. The Djinn looks worse from here on as well. D-?

WM 4: decent effects but feels like bad Helllraiser. Kinda fun? C-/D?

Yeah... The sequels might be a fun group watch scenario but that might be it

Sure does. With WISHMASTER, it feels like none but the first still wanted to be a WISHMASTER movie which is such a waste

There is a noted drop-off in quality

I feel a small sense of accomplishment (the set has been sitting on a shelf for far too long, unwatched) and a little annoyed on behalf of the Djinn. He deserved better than becoming a second-rate Cenobite. Andrew Divoff gives a great performance in the first two films.
