“Fix your hearts or die” —David Lynch

He will be missed 💜

Apparently when investors wanted Lynch’s surreal scenes cut from “The Elephant Man,” Brooks responded:
"We screened the film to bring you up to date as to the status of that venture. Do not misconstrue this as our soliciting the input of raging primitives."

Such an amazing individual.

He will be greatly missed.

Mel Brooks famously described Lynch as “Jimmy Stewart from Mars.”

Even with the massive influx of new users, mods are doing great work weeding out trolls.

Also, a friendly reminder: please take a second to vet blocklists. Troll farms etc are using bait-&-switch tactics.

Words to live by 😁

Some of the replies 😳

Yes, listening & reading are different forms of sensory input
AND research shows:
“Whether the words of a story come from listening or reading, it appears that the brain activates the same areas to represent their semantics, or meaning”

Is your point simply that listening & reading are different forms of sensory input?

Bluesky is a Chekhov chamber.

Management thanks you for restricting gun use to skeet shooting only.

You’re not wrong!

Strongly recommend blocking immediately without engaging.
Deprive ‘em of oxygen, & they can’t get traction.

Yelling ‘echo chamber’ seems to be their latest bit—but refusing to put up with toxic bs ain’t the same as living in an echo chamber.

It’s time to “block & load” folks…

Plus I found this suggestion by @ebthen.bsky.social very helpful:

"pretend you're describing an image on a podcast/radio show"

Looking for tips on how to write alt text?

There's the popular "capybara" infographic
(created by digital agency Puzzle)

imo @ebthen.bsky.social's prompt questions are great as they help emphasize what someone relying on a screen reader *needs* to know

Keep forgetting to add alt text?

Go to: Bluesky Settings > Accessibility

Toggle on "Require alt text before posting" setting

Now when you upload an image but forget to add alt text, the Post button will not be clickable, & a warning banner alerts you alt text is missing. Add alt text to post.

To add an image description to a BlueSky post:

Click ALT [1] in the upper left corner of an uploaded image

A new window will pop up, showing the image AND an alt text field [2] where the description can be entered.

Enter description > save > post.

This might help?

See the alt text of the infographic on alt text for more detail 😁

If you see this post a vampire and pass it on.

Lina Leandersson in the 2008 Swedish film “Let the Right One In” (Låt den Rätte Komma In), directed by Tomas Alfredson.
Screenplay by author John Ajvide Lindqvist, who wrote the 2004 novel (of same title).

Highly recommend both book & film!

Absolutely. I’m not keen on screenshotting his kind of stuff here (pls don’t brigade), it’s just to show guys like this are trying to rage bait & honestly, they’ve got the “other place” for that.
Block ‘em.
Please don’t let that toxic garbage get a foothold here.
