My office has entered into its winter phase and decorated with white roses in remembrance of my grandmother. ❤️

My grandmother’s favorite season was the winter/Christmas season and she would decorate her house. I loved it. Core childhood memories, and it’s why I love Christmas so much. So… time for an office decor update. Not everything is swapping out, but enough. And white roses remind me of her so… ROSES!

WELP! I am excited to share that I will officially join as a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Microbiology and Immunology at the University at Buffalo starting in Fall 2024! We will study the regulation of mitochondrial dynamics, metabolism, and differentiation in trypanosomes! #NewPI

As much as I enjoyed my first faculty interview, it was EXHAUSTING! Because of my nerves, I decided to not do coffee… OMG THAT WAS A MISTAKE LOL. 9 hours of sleep was not enough to handle that level of being ON. The second day I took the coffee whenever it was offered, and I felt AMAZING.

Ok now that my PI has taught me how she maintains the lab budget, I feel MUCH more confident in what I need to run my lab on a startup fund. Also… I now am starting to feel why PIs are constantly on the grant-writing treadmill lol 😅. Welp… I guess I will be the cat typing frantically LOL

The colors started while I was away at Chicago. So glad we got autumn colors this year. Last year, the summer was so dry that the trees basically went from green to brown… the colors were unfortunate.

This loft was such a nice space for the gin tasting experience. Almost like a large luxury loft apartment. I hope that I can afford to craft such a beautiful space for myself one day… sigh… one day.

This Monday has been a Monday. Not in a bad way, but news after news after news. Imposter syndrome tried to square up with me. I beat it, but still… wasn’t expecting it to try to surprise me lol. I definitely am going to enjoy this gin and tonic now.

Yesterday, I presented my work at one of the largest parasite conference I have ever attended. It is nice to have those moments when you feel “I chose the right path”… now if only they came more often LOL
