For the first time ever, recorded atmospheric CO₂ has exceeded 430ppm! The last time CO₂ consistently reached today’s human-driven levels was ∼14 Million years ago, with shorter periods of similar levels around 3-5 Million years ago.

Quite some seismic activity around Santorini. In 2022/23 we drilled in and around the caldera to better understand these volcanic systems. Now the expedition's group chat is lighting up with discussions, trying to figure out how to interpret the activity. Hope everything stays safe!
