My mum died suddenly recently and although she wasn't the bibliomaniac of the family, I've been trying to help my dad clear out his large collection of books as he probably can't stay in their house. I've often thought of my dad when I've read or heard things from you about your book obsession

Interesting rule. I'm definitely going to have that in my head when putting my own list together now, but I'm sure I'd have contenders from bands/artists that I first heard when going through my dad's records years ago, so I'd struggle to follow it without great pain at what would be left out!

It's too easy to box yourself in where you know what you like and Spotify knows what you like and everything else must be for other people, so why bother trying it. Then sometimes a little window opens and you think, "oh maybe that other music might be for me too?"

I'll hold up my hand that my first introductions to any of her albums were the Ryan Adams cover album and then whichever Dessner it was coming in on Folklore, so I kind of was one of those people! Sorry!

I'll be honest that my main engagement with it currently is that it reliably cheers up my 11 month old when he's being a bit grumpy, so neither of us are worrying much about how good her songwriting is; he's just enjoying me singing and dancing badly. But maybe that's the measure of a great song!

Yeah I'm a bit disappointed I completely missed these previous polls, but excited to try to take part in the next ones. And it's probably not a bad thing to miss out on struggling to narrow down my selection for 21st C because I'd likely end up with a full set of songs between 2006 and 2013!

Interesting that there are two so close together and thanks for the clue. Asking my partner for her predictions of what would beat it wasn't helpful to me, because she's too obsessed and had guesses for different types of fans, so she seemed to have about 6/7 options that she thought could be top!

I'm brand new here and didn't see anyone's votes (and might have misunderstood your annotation), but am I the only one surprised that
a) Shake it off isn't higher, and
b) She has two songs ranked above it?
I really would have assumed it would be her biggest. My Swifty wife was also surprised
