Had a lovely time today talking to the @salforduni midwifery students about my research in maternal and fetal health, from placentas to breastmilk, bench to bedside and how they can engage with research to help care for women and babies

Really engaging group of students!

I've been successful in the lastest BRIC Funding Call & gained funding to further our work into understanding the immunology of human breast milk

Goal to see whether some individuals breastmilk could boost immunity and prevent complications in neonatal care

What does #diabetes tech really mean?

Gracie has gone from "The diabetic child" to just "a child" (who happens to be diabetic)

Diabetes will not stop her doing anything - whether interviewing celebrities, making tackles to help her football team or just be her abnormal self

Absolutely blown away once again by the thanks and appreciatation shown by my amazing level 6 BMedSci students

For some this job is simply a paid employment, for me it's about inspiring and educating the next best and brightest.

Thank you for making me feel valued and appreciated

Here's a new one for the #gbdoc

Gracie is on a tethered pump (tandem t slim) and clearly today she has had an issue

How much could the cold weather impact the insulin in the pump if its kept on the outside of her clothes but under a coat say?

Anyone had frozen insulin 😬🤣

A new study has looked at regions where people tend to live up to 100 years of age regularly.

A few factors were unsurprising but a common theme was drinking 1-2 glasses of wine a day!

I spoke to the Mirror newspaper about the science behind the headline

Its #snowing outside! Ever wonder how your body manages to keep warm?

Thermoregulation allows your body to stay at around 37°C

If your body needs to warm up, it does the following:

Vasoconstriction
Shivering
⬆️ thyroid hormones

To help wear multiple thin layers, eating plenty & staying active.

I've had this version of the lord of the rings since 1999 and it has been well very read!
