From a colleague in Montana who diagnosed a miscarriage.
Apparently this insurer is “pausing” all review/authorization of “abortion related procedures.” Unfortunately we don’t get to *pause* patients having pregnancy complications while this crap is sorted out.

Update: contraceptive guidelines, STI treatment guidelines, all down. These were easily searchable in real-time during patient visits to ensure we were prescribing appropriately for latest guidelines, and now they’re not available. How is this making us great?

How is anybody supposed to understand what’s going on with the administration if the media doesn’t delve in or explain anything? I read @hcrichardson.bsky.social’s newsletter this morning, then got the @nytimes.com daily newsletter, and it’s like two different universes.

ACOG clearly describes that curettage can be sharp or suction. Curettage removes intracavitary tissue, whether pregnancy/clots/overgrowth, using sharp or suction, etc.

Medical terminology is certainly confusing and inconsistent. The following screenshots are from the ACOG Practice Bulletin on Early Pregnancy Loss and their page on Billing for Interruption of Pregnancy. Point is that D&C is not incorrect in referring to suction aspiration for any indication.

Husband texted me as I’m scrambling around finishing paperwork after a busy clinic, and I didn’t see it until 30 minutes later. I love that he gets me 😊

Meet Fionna the meatball…
She was surrendered to a high-kill shelter last winter, and we adopted her in April. It’s been a process working through the medical and behavioral things (she was not used to being a house pet), but she’s a sweetheart and the effort was well worth it. #adoptdontshop
