The fire-damaged O2 ABC site on Sauchiehall Street can be redeveloped — a move which Glasgow School of Art has said will put the rebuild of the Mackintosh building at “significant risk”.

The planning committee has approved Vita Group’s bid for a foodhall and student flats.

There had been calls for a hearing, which would have allowed both the developers and objectors, including GSoA, to make their case.

The SNP has won two former Labour seats on Glasgow City Council.

Mhairi Hunter was re-elected in Southside Central and Donna McGill was successful in the North East ward.

James Adams was elected as the new councillor for Partick East/Kelvindale tonight.

He said, during his campaign, the key theme on the doors was "people want GCC and its leadership to focus on actually running an effective council".

Glasgow Labour won 3 by-elections last night. Holding seats vacated after 3 councillors stepped down, with 2 elected as MPs in July.

Group leader George Redmond said the people "are telling us they need a change in Glasgow".

Ex-Rangers player Scott Arfield wants to open a pub near Ibrox. Plans have twice been rejected by the council.
