Magary: Can you give me an example of one? Torre: There’s one story that it was the Sacramento Kings G League player who was accused of murder. Magary: It was Chance Comanche. It was reported out by the Associated Press at the beginning of 2024. Torre: Yes. I got a tip about that. I didn’t know what to do with it. I chose to do something else. I don’t know if I made the right call. It just felt like I didn’t have a way to do that in a way that made our show the best fit for it. Believe me, I think about that story quite a bit.

"Alien: Earth" is fun because, like every good "Alien" installment, it understands that the facehuggers aren't the REAL villains.

But you know what really ties together any good “Alien” story? It’s the main characters finding themselves at the mercy of the xenomorphs because their evil corporate overlords forced them into that situation. The original 1979 “Alien” was a masterpiece not just because of Ridley Scott’s direction, or H.R. Giger’s terrifying effects work, but because it stripped its setting of all wonder. Sigourney Weaver’s Ellen Ripley wasn’t some Captain Kirk-style hero bravely venturing into space in the name of scientific discovery. She and the rest of her crew were just space grunts: replaceable cogs for a fully privatized interstellar travel industry.
