I'm a member, although an armchair one. They do do some campaigning work, and have e.g. School Speakers and other opportunities from time to time. Locally, there's an allied association who run events and socials. Ultimately, though, I joined to support their work numerically and financially.

It is somewhat clichéd to quote the Martin Niemöller poem - First They Came For... - especially given its immediate context when written, but this is how regressive authoritarian actors work: normalise the demonisation of one group and move on to the next.
