Neuroscientist at the Allen Institute. Lightsheet imaging of axons, all cell types welcome; previously @CajalNeuro, @Stanford, and @Berkeley
New year, new swag. I'm happy to share that I've started up at the Allen Institute for Neural Dynamics-- joining a wonderful team and really looking forward to scaling up from terabytes to petabytes and beyond.

Excited to share our latest findings, now published @NatureNeuro www.nature.com/articles/s41...

We found unmyelinated axons exhibit pearls-on-a-string morphology's due to their membrane mechanical properties.

Threads will follow!

It's so rare when a new tool "just works" but anyone who is hesitating should try this one without reservation. Shigeaki was incredibly kind answering our questions but we needn't have worried and it worked on the first try. www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...
Whole-brain spatial transcriptional analysis at cellular resolution
Recent advances in RNA analysis have deepened our understanding of cellular states in biological tissues. However, a substantial gap remains in integrating RNA expression data with spatial context acr...

Alright, let's see how bluesky handles video. Here's 37 million TH+ somas imaged from 240 mice. There's so much structure in SNc! And yes, the left hemisphere had a synuclein insult and is partly degenerated.

As a new user here, this is simply a post to initialize the feed and set the expectation for more whole-brain lightsheet content to come.
