Not my normal Wednesday today. Attended the launch event at @uofgsocsci.bsky.social for the new Centre for Teaching Excellence this morning, hearing about its ethos & aims and meeting some of my fellow secondees.
Got something in my eye on the way to the event, and am now at A&E to get it looked at

About as #iteachphysics as it gets in my lab. PASCO cart & track, QED & light gate overseen by my #SDSS plate. Class did a brilliant job of getting this vintage apparatus to give some decent results as they investigated acceleration.

Went for a stroll at Troon beach with MrsB. Just in time to see Air Force One & Two take off from Prestwick.
Genuinely conflicted by this 'private visit' of DJT to Scotland, involving visits from the UK PM and Scottish FM.
Can't decide whether to be appalled or disgusted.

After a day's delay due to a brief gastric bug, we got ourselves up to the Moray Firth coast for a few nights. Grew up here 35+ years ago and didn't really appreciate the incredible place that it is. So glad that I do, and so do my family. It really is so beautiful.

Looking at Sloan Digital Sky Survey Navigate website for an interesting end of term treasure hunt activity. Never fail to be amazed by the quality of the images and the accompanying spectral data.
Looking at the images from Vera Rubin Sky Viewer, the quality is simply gob-smacking.
