An American in the Netherlands and I plan to keep it that way
Pretty decent chance your US history class didn't mention this.

And then there’s Callie. Added to the family earlier this month. Not a stray but lived much of her life in an Eastern European shelter which might be worse.

I’m late to the party but this is Ellie. Found her as a stray in Houston in 2011 when she was about 8 months old. She died about 2 years ago. Best dog in the world.

Federal government actively pushing disinformation to millions of citizens. What an absolute abomination.

I am 100% in favor of bringing back the scarlet letter for people who think they can anonymously say shit like this.

Trend is nowhere more obvious than in South Texas but this is happening everywhere in electorates that leaned Democratic. The Democratic Party isn’t there yet but it’s steamrolling towards irrelevance. Said it before but If you think a 2 party system is bad, just wait till you see a 1 party system.

Left the back doors open to let in some cool air and while I worked, this neighborhood cat snuck into my house, walked up the stairs, presumably scoped out the area and found my unmade bed to lay down on. Likely was there for hours.

But you'd never know that by just reading the headlines. It sounds like they are reporting on two different elections. The NYT spends 3/4 of its writing discussing the surge in the far right before ultimately admitting this near the end of the article.

Time for a rant that none of you care about. The 1st is a headline on EU elections from a NL English language media outlet. The 2nd is from the NYT. The 1st is much shorter but both mostly come to the same conclusion which is that the far-right made gains but functionally, not a lot has changed.
