Using my powers for evil (drawing fanart of fanfiction)
A page full of drawings of characters from Kpop Demon Hunters in a volleyball AU setting, based on the story mentioned in the post. Starting from the top left, there are many sketches of Zoey hopping around the court trying to keep the ball in play, with various amounts of sweat and mania. In the top right is a larger drawing of Zoey on her knees, leaning on a ball. She looks tired and sweaty, but her expression is determined as she looks up. In the bottom left, Rumi and Mira in the rival team uniform stare smugly down. Rumi is kinda decked and her arm is taped up with kinetic sports tape which kinda emulates her patterns in the canon. She is leaning against Mira's shoulder, who is smouldering into the camera. Bottom right, Zoey in chibi is drinking from her water bottle and thinking about the match, half undressed. She has giant cartoon rabbit ears, a reference to the nickname "Bunny" rumira give her in the fic. Behind her they are peeking into the changing room like the filthy little tsundere perverts they are.

"Mira is signing a photo. Her dialog, indicated to be in korean: "Dude ask for her number!" Zoey looks shifty and sweaty. Her dialog, indicated to be in English: "She says she's flattered but you're not her type." The person having the photo signed looks a LOT like Zoey. An arrow indicates she is Zoey's stunt double for the shoot. The girls are eating burgers at a diner. Zoey is midway through eating, dialog: "You missed a bit, Rumi" Rumi looks like she's in her own world enjoying her food, and covered in ketchup. Mira leans in to lick the sauce off Rumi's face, dialog: "I got it." Rumi and Zoey are making out on the back of a motorcycle. Rumi is on top and Zoey is wrapping her legs around her waist like a horny sloth In the foreground, Mira is drinking an energy drink and wagging her finger, looking annoyed into the camera. Dialog: "You'd better stop filming if you want that camera to stay in one piece." The girls are piled in a heap, with long shadows suggesting it's sunset. Zoey is fast asleep ugly snoring and drooling on Rumi. Rumi looks like a tired zombie. Mira isn't a lot better. Caption reads: "Loooong day", with a sleeping emoji.

'Ride With Me' (2024) was a hit single recorded and released for Huntr/x' world tour.

Its lyrics center on teamwork, helping each other reach new heights, and celebrating friendship.

(Not an excuse to design racing jackets to match Rumi's in the movie)

Forgot to include the WIP for this. A lazy one since there's exact references in the movie already
A sketch version of the drawing in the original post. It's colorless and Zoey looks like a cartoon character, very floppy and exaggerated. Mystery honestly looks more like Mira in this one than in the final product. I think it's the lips. There's no Mira in the background of the second panel like in the final version. I realised quite late into the final piece that it would be funny and balance the composition a bit

WIPs
Page of early sketches where I was figuring out some of the costume and character design details. There’s a few rough thumbnails of the final idea to figure out how to get three characters neatly fitting on a couch couch couch couch A loose sketch with some rough colors and lighting direction. Compared to final, some of the posing has been adjusted so that Mira is slouching more, and both girls are angled inward towards her. In this version they’re all a little disarrayed and uncomfortable. Mira’s shirt changes from the metal “Won’t Miss” design from the opening, to the white blouse in the clinic scene. Zoey’s shoes and socks are placeholders in this image and were updated to match what she wears in the movie (minus the bucket hat - she's wearing Mira's hat instead). Underdrawing for the final piece. Everything is roughly the same but looser and without any detail. The image is not colored, but each girl has been blocked in with a different color so that their overall shapes are more obvious.

Side note but I figured a way to make buttons/boxes look slightly more hand-drawn, if you're interested in that

It looks kinda inky, so would fit in well with a manga vibe

Basically setup keywords you can use in place of colors, to reduce the number of times you have to define the light and dark mode versions
