Fallen, the first book in The Founder's Seed trilogy, won a gold book award from Literary Titan earlier this year.

Two days ago, I learned that book 2, Broken, won the silver book award, and that book 3, Driven, won its own gold book award.

Text reads: five stars, August 4, 2025 Tension All the Way Down This book gave me the constant sense that some huge disaster was about to happen. I'm being vague to spare you spoilers, but prepare for a lot of seat squirming. The writing is just as crisp as the prior books, and a certain villain kept my brows hiked up. Rich great medical details here. I can tell Drema did her research. And the societal observations made in the prior books come roaring back in this one, along with some characters getting what they deserved, while others were vindicated. Again, no spoilers, but I got my dose of schadenfreude. Did I mention the great writing? Several lines stood out for me, including: “...pushed his mind into the spaces between the shouts.” and "...where he could feel welcome, respected, even loved. Maybe that place didn’t exist." Dramatic irony kept me cringing on behalf of some characters, giving the story even more depth. Alira makes massive progress in this book, too--a transformation that was fun to behold, giving a satisfying end to a trilogy I'm glad I read. If you enjoyed books 1 and 2, just wait until you read this one.

A sample from "Deer in Headlights": Such a nuisance, this interruption. Innocent or not, if it weren’t for this deer, I’d already be in town, having a beer with Jonah and telling him about my find. The old woman reaches the stag’s side. I stumble closer. She squats, lithe as a teenager, touches her hand to its head, mumbles words in a soothing tone I can’t quite place, and the animal quiets. Settles. Its last breath frosts the air around its head, and the woman stays there long after, her lips moving in a litany I cannot hear. At last, she strokes the beast’s head one last time, pulls herself upright, and looks at me. “Such a shame,” I say. “He was a beautiful stag.” She stares, expectant. Her hair gleams in the dark. “What?” I point at the animal. “I didn’t mean to kill it. He was just there, on the road. It was an accident.” She watches. Says nothing. “Surely you don’t think this is my fault. If anyone’s to blame here, it’s the stag. He almost killed me.” The woman shakes her head, a subtle motion in the surrounding darkness. Again, a glow appears off to one side but is gone when I look that way. “He volunteered,” the woman murmurs.
