I was advised to alternate hot and cold for a painful lower back, so perhaps try that. Also, even if it is difficult and painful, try to move your knees from time to time. Ibuprofen should reduce any inflammation and pain. Take care!

Ouch, that sounds painful! And, in my experience, the shock of falling stays with you for a while. Thank goodness for the kind passers by who helped you up.

That wee boy is a kinder, better human than the Mango Moron, and he's only seven!

Ach, you know you love him really, & Angus too! I've followed you for a number of years now, having come across you through iScot magazine in the first instance. Your love for all of your animals shines through. Hope your daughter's health improves. Good to be close, but each with your own space.

Same here - and then it turns out to be true...

Ah, lovely Mouse. I was so sad when he had to be put to sleep. It's ridiculous how attached I can become to cats and dogs that I know only through social media.

Especially when you've gone out of your way to get a re-supply of that particular brand/flavour.

I'm sure Blaze and Laoch will love it. And who knows, Angus might like it tomorrow. Cats are like that - today's favourite is deemed disgusting tomorrow and vice versa. And yet we still love them.

My late mum always used water with bicarb of soda dissolved in it for cleaning her fridge. I grew up in Ireland, where it was widely used for bread making, so every household has a large packet in stock. A paste made with bicarb is also good for getting tea and coffee stains out of mugs/cups.

Hope there's also a tip on how to get my warm woolly hat on over the tiara.

I bet you relented very quickly and let Angus in for a cuddle too! The dugs look so happy to be cooried up to you.

He sounds like our late lamented Zeke. He was an enormous ginger boy, but a real softy. He used to get bullied and beaten up by the other local cats, and often had to hide somewhere until the coast was clear and he could get home safely.

I moved from Ireland to the NE back in 1987, to work on a research study at Newcastle University. It involved interviewing parents about their children's health. I have a good ear for accents; could manage Geordie but was stumped by Pitmatic dialect and accent in Northumbrian coalfields.

Happy Birthday Blaze! Another one giving you the adoring look. Your pets definitely know how much their dad loves them, and they love you back.

Friends have an elderly much-loved boxador who is arthritic and has a dicky heart. He has a chariot that he can be pushed around in while they walk. But they don't work for all dogs.
November 10, 2025 at 4:15 PM
Ah bless them all, they look so relaxed and secure.
November 10, 2025 at 4:13 PM
Does he go out in his 'chariot'? He knows how much you love him!

Try your local butchers. Mine does sausage meat, especially around Christmas time (they make their own sausages all year round) and you can buy just the weight you want, which is an additional advantage. I sometimes use sausage meat to make an alternative to Bolognese sauce for pasta.

Why didn't he do what any normal person would do in the circumstances - sit down out of the way or leave the room, letting those caring for the unfortunate individual who'd been taken ill to get on with what they needed to do?
November 7, 2025 at 5:25 PM
That looks sore. Does he need a donut to stop him scratching or would that rub more.
November 2, 2025 at 3:22 PM
Excellent catting from Angus! How are the dugs?
