It does make me think this character owes soooo much to Smash. Ultimate didn't just put him in the spotlight again, but it also gave him his classic gold belly armor back, which disappeared after DK 64, and let's be honest now, it goes raw AF.

The game was already goated before, but the fact they brought K.Rool back and with his most peak performance yet... God, I love it. They even explained why he's been absent since Mario Sluggers in 2008, and to me that's so sweet.
