I shared the ASCO stage with Dr Dawn Hershman when we were both awarded a career development award as we were starting our careers. Amazing to share the stage with her again as we are awarded once more at #ASCO25. Truly honored and excited to do so.

FWIW... The law requires NIH to ensure diversity in its funded research, emphasizing inclusion of women... not females. Women. The law is on the side of diversity, equity, and Inclusion.

A vestige of the AIDS epidemic, i still remember wearing this as a t-shirt when i was a resident carrying for men and women dying of HIV.
It seems the lessons from that epidemic are informative today.

The need is so great, the commitment of the cancer team so deep. This is at the heart of Global Oncology- I come to teach new standards of care and also to learn about how that care is delivered. Joining local colleagues & striving together for equity for people living with cancer everywhere. 3/3

At their multidisciplinary meetings, up 70 people get reviewed in a day, where all specislists provide a consensus plan, often with the patient and their loved ones in the room. 2/3

At the National Institute of Cancer Research in #dhaka. Doing so much with limited resources- treatment delays can stretch to many months. People are seen on a first come, first serve basis. If one doesn't have a pass by mid afternoon, they must wait to be seen the following day. 1/3

14h flights via Instanbul, 2h in customs, and a shower later. Glad to be back in #dhaka for the Bangladesh #breastcancer symposium. Good to be amongst friends doing good work for their people. #equity goes beyond borders. Way beyond.

Striking out of state care patterns based on social support and living in rural America (3/4):
Living in a rural area resulted in a higher likelihood of out of state:
- surgeries (2.5x higher)
- radiotherapy (3x higher)
- chemo (4x higher)

Answer: About 7% of PWC cross state lines:
- 8.3% surgical (>15% in #pancca)
- 7% radiotherapy
