Imagery is the use of vivid/descriptive language that appeals to the senses, creating mental pictures. It can evoke sight, sound, smell, taste or touch to enhance the emotional/sensory experience e.g., “The golden sun dipped below the horizon, painting the sky with hues of crimson and amber”.

Symbolism is the use of symbols—objects, figures, or colors—to represent abstract ideas or concepts beyond their literal meaning. For instance, a dove often symbolizes peace, and a red rose may signify love. It adds depth and layers of meaning to literature and art.

Hyperboles are deliberate exaggerations used for emphasis or dramatic effect, not meant to be taken literally. They add intensity and evoke strong emotions, often making descriptions more vivid or humorous e.g., saying, “I have a million things to do” exaggerates to highlight being very busy.
