Could hear a pin drop for the minute's silence for big David "Syd" Lawrence at Worcester today: such an important figure in British cricket as our first British-born black player. Lost to the miserable motor neurone disease. Sleep well Syd. #countycricket

The wikipedia description of the word "git" is an absolute stonker: "As a mild oath it is roughly on a par with prat and marginally less pejorative than berk."

A reminder that top-flight football is abhorrent and full of angry men: see here in Paris when the match was being played HUNDREDS OF MILES AWAY so no away fans were even in the city. Oh that and PSG are bankrolled by the Govt of a country with a low human rights score. Get to hell / in the sea.

A new favourite of mine: this lad attempting to go round every store-bought rotisserie chicken in the US. I wonder what he'd make of our wan supermarket efforts over here...

"If you can't take a date, take a mate", he says. Or I dare you, go on, try dining on your own? It's really not that scary.

Laughing like a drain at Rees-Mogg calling himself a GB News Presenter on Newsnight. I'd have given £100 for the caption person who changed it to that to have written "Victorian Thundercunt" instead.

It's au revoir to Folkestone Wine Company today. Pretty much the perfect restaurant.

Was out at the pub in Deal this evening and it was what everyone was talking about: the whole place was furious*

An overnighter in Holyhead. Got there at 9pm, hotel, up at 8am for a ferry. The sole interaction with anyone was en route to the ferry terminal when a furious ruddy man looked at me whilst walking past me and exclaimed "FUCKING ENGLISH". Croeso i Gymru!

I'm doing the train/boat combo from London to Dublin tomorrow/Saturday. "Guide to eating out in Holyhead" search is not throwing up many gems. Highlight so far is a menu that says "fresh beef patty made to our specification" which sounds like you're having it done how they like OR ELSE.

Not sure I've liked recipes so much from one person as Justin Tsang. His book is straight on the to-buy list:

**100+ more days of this sort of light in the evenings

@kiaoval.com I think we really need an explainer on one of your social media feeds of the pre-match football game.

It looks like it's taken all of about 9 months for "Crust And Wine", Blackheath's 'multi-cuisine' restaurant to shutter. Blackheath is full of Indian and Italian restaurants so let's open up an Italian / Indian dual menu restaurant?

Some people should not be allowed near restaurant design.

In the betting for the next Pope is a "Pierbattista Pizzaballa" from Italy. They should put it to the public vote because Boaty McBoatface here would romp it.
