I regard myself as a baby boomer: born early in 1945, I was conceived in mid 1944 when my father was on leave from the army. Unlike the writer, I enjoyed university education and full employment throughout my adult life. I married a genuine boomer born in 1949. We have two children.

A good article which would be even better if it acknowledged the contribution made by international (including Chinese) investment in agricultural research leading to higher yielding varieties of grains as part of the Green Revolution.
