As a trained clinical psychologist, my #MomHadTheData to support my brother and me through our childhoods. She knew what mattered for our development and was always in our corner, armed with research, to make sure we got what we needed.

Pi Day is one of my favorite traditions. Today I ate a slice of apple pie with my nine year old while she recited the first 15 digits of Pi. But that will never top the truly nerdy celebrations I’ve had with my colleagues @childtrends.bsky.social

Last night, my 3rd grader walked in my office and handed me this question. She just doesn’t understand what is happening… it doesn’t align to how she’s been taught the government works. Same kid, same. (Ignore her spelling and forgetting the name of the Senate):

My org just received this “Notice of Court Order.” Note we only received it for one (of several) grants we hold…. Trying to make sense of it, but hopefully it’s good news (for now?)

We received this this afternoon for a grant from another agency (not NSF)… it says it’s a requirement of the TRO…

Did any other federal grantees receive a memo this afternoon about the TRO? Considering NSF funds appeared to still be paused on Friday trying to figure out what to make of this…

So starts day 1 of packing up my mom’s house. Our big task is dismantling my Dad’s train table… and all the other trains he had hidden away too.

It’s snowing in the DC metro area. I’m not ready for this but it’s peaceful to watch from my home office
