There’s a stone to commemorate the visit that sits outside the Civic Centre in Newcastle. Sadly, it’s as ugly as the Civic Centre itself (I’m not a fan of brutalist architecture) but still always nice to see.

Ah amazing! I still have the Weetabix Wonderworld atlas they did too. The stereotypes on the front cover aren’t great but I loved it at the time!

As a child, I saved up tokens on Weetabix boxes to get an encyclopaedia & when I read it I was always drawn to the history bits. A few years later (aged 9), we started studying the ancient Egyptians & I was hooked. Loved history ever since.
