In June 2025, academics and civil society organisations met in London for an International Network for Critical China Studies workshop to analyse how to prevent transnational repression. Governments & NGOs have not paid enough attention to TNR and need to do much more to protect people's rights.

UN agencies have been unresponsive on the issue, including the UNHCR and OHCHR. While NGOs have not sufficiently acted or publicised the issue. It's a tragic example of when people's human rights are forgotten about because the detainees don't have enough power or the optics to be exploited.

Changing place names into a different language and then transliterating that new name into the original language for decorative purposes is not language preservation. 二道桥 (erdaoqiao) is the Chinese name for a place called دۆڭكۆۋرۈك (Döngköwrük).
