I hear what you are saying, Anthropology has a widely problematic past but then so do so many disciplines. Take psychology for example, yet it remains extremely popular. Plus Anthro has worked hard to deal with its past. A lot comes down to people not understanding what the discipline is all about

This is very possible, it doesn't fit a box per se, it just touches everything

Almost 25 years ago I learned this and was having a convo in the kitchen with my mom when she used it. I explained what I had learned and why it was bad and she hasn't said it since. It's crazy how many words/ phrases can be part of our everyday use without us understanding why they are problematic
