Ah, finally found the one on the church. This is slightly unusual as it features a bolt in the centre. The groove in the bolt gives you a horizontal line.

From 1831 to the 1990s over 500,000 of these were made by the OS who, incidentally, had the power to enter homes etc to put them where they liked.
Anyhow, they are pretty much everywhere so you might find them near you.
