I’ve been listening to the ブライトビットブラザーズ podcast (thanks @dark1x.bsky.social for the tip) and it’s been a great way to get a sense of the scene like what stuff was popular, what was a gem for the freaks, and other general tidbits of info in an organic way.

Hi Tom, have you ever come across good JP-language secondary sources about Japanese games/game history? I’m a researcher rather than a translator, but really want to increase my awareness of non localized JP games.

That was definitely part of what made Switch affordable for me in JP. If first party stuff doesn’t include EN on the cart here…Oof.

Like, I understand not wanting scalpers but the World version being available on the My Nintendo store only means you need a JP address to order it right…why not just require an account that proves you live in JP and then unlock the languages?? This literally screws me over specifically not tourists
