See this comment thread, Dan? The public doesn't want to limit the office of president, they just want their preferred candidate to wield it. When/if we slide into authoritarianism we'll have done it ourselves.

Listen, I get it, but I don't get how we fix it. If you're on the other end of the political spectrum you won't vote for a weaker president, you'll vote for a stronger left-leaning president, and the ideological swings will just further separate. What steps can we take to rebalance the system?
