Although no one remembers Bob, his face is remembered in the masks that are worn in memory of Guy. For some reason the masks resemble Bob, not Guy.

However, by the time Bob was arrested for his blood ties to Guy, Bacon had received one too many favors from the King, thus limiting his influence for saving Bob’s life.

Sir Fancis Bacon (always considered “the King’s man”) was one of Bob’s friends at the pub and he welcomed Bob’s attitude towards money: that there should be none. (Sir Francis was always heavily burdened by debt.)

These ideas were shared only among a few of his friends at the local pub on the Strand, but through the years, they may have had a limited influenced the work of Dissenters, like the Unitarian minister, Richard Price, who was a mentor to many of the founding fathers of the United States of America.

Bob never advocated violence to force these ideas on others, for he believed that people were basically good and were capable of coming to a consensus without any coercion.

Sometimes he would absentmindedly walk out of the pub without paying, perhaps thinking his utopia had already arrived.

Bob did have views that may have been considered treasonous in his day. He saw no need for any authority, neither king nor pope, and envisioned a society where people would simply help each other with no exchange of money or even barter.

I am going way back to a past life around the turn of the 17th century. Meet Bob Fawkes: Guy’s less famous brother. Bob was not really a fighter like his brother, Guy. He tried fencing, but gave it up because he got tired of getting hurt, especially when sparing with Guy.

But no one remembers,
The one they dismembered,
Though treason he never did plot.
There was no reason to kill Bob Fawkes for treason,
The brother whom everyone forgot.
