at a moment of indecision i once spent an entire day describing a fencepost across two thousand florid words. the next day I sat down and wrote several hundred on the next fencepost, before shelving the project forever. i too feel seen.

How is it sad? Plenty of the world's best baristas can't list the precise phenolic compounds in a specific coffee, but know how to coax a perfect espresso shot from a machine with a leaky gasket and hard water.

Understood. And I apologize if I presumed bad faith. Meant to convey that IMO when are slides sent are sent sufficiently early, students who need can pre-emptively translate and anticipate/prep content, freeing them to listen to extemporized lectures and off-slide explanations.

Share slides. Lecture notes drastically improve accessibility for LD and ML students, reduce jitters, and serve as catch-up tool for students who are absent. Having notes withheld because of instructors' tough love approach is inequitable and gatekeepy.

Last week a 45-year old man sitting next to me did this. Flight attendant politely asked him use headphones. He ostentatiously complied until attendant walked away, then disconnected and went back to watching Kung Fu Panda 4 at full volume. Portuguese dubbing, btw. Psycho.
