If public execution is top tier masculinity, why stop there? Why not take back all the traditional, european methods of punishment, i. E. Breaking wheel, branding, burning at the stake, "hanged, drawn and quartering.".. But of course, it may be too euro-trash for Mr. palantir.

Its also an economical black hole. Since Russia is an autocracy, using state funds to SEEM powerful is of utmost important, almost more important than actually being powerful.

Colonialism can be done in many different ways. I would say US has definitely had its colonialistic periods, e.g us war in the Philippines, banana Wars in the 20's, not to mention an internal colonialism towards indigenous population, etc.

America did their fair share of sinister imperialism. Doesn't mean other countries can't do it too.
