Movie #155: Sentimental Value

And when I say Renate Reinsve is one of the best actors of this generation then what?

The core four really grip your heart and the way the film portrays how we attempt to hold, grow, and build connections despite cracks in our foundation is really beautiful.

Movie #154: Rental Family

I hope Brendan Fraser knows how happy I am that he exists.

A truly beautiful film about loneliness and connection with beautiful direction and performances.

One of the few movies that I wish had a bit more substance in the b-plots with Aiko.

Movie #153: Sisu: Road to Revenge

The amount you have to suspend disbelief is honestly kind of camp.

Also it improves on the first in the way that he doesn’t fucking abandon his dog every 5 minutes.

Also just found out there was a first movie yesterday.

Movie #152: Wicked: For Good

The world is not ready for ‘No Good Deed’, because HOLY FUCK!

Also ‘For Good’… sobbing.

Cynthia and Ariana deserve every bit of praise they get!

Also Jonathan Bailey I am free on Thursday if you want hang out, when I’m free, on Thursday, we can hang out.

Movie #151: Keeper

Did I watch a different movie than everyone else? Cause I loved it! 🤷🏼

Wherein Longlegs is an ode to his father & the sordid connection to horror, this felt very much like an ode to his mother, who often disappears in the narrative of Anthony Perkins life and legacy.

Movie #150: The Running Man

If I had a nickel for every Stephen King anti-capitalist film I’ve seen this year I’d have two nickels. Its not a lot but it’s nice that it’s happened twice.

Fuck the system keeping us down.

Also Glen Powell’s butt 🫡

I liked this more than a lot of people 🤷🏼

Movie #149: Now You See Me: Now You Don’t

Absolutely written for the “watching” while scrolling generation and quite predictable but not unenjoyable.

Plus Isla Fisher 🙌🏻

I hope Nuremberg 2 goes HARD

Nothing that great to say about this movie but nothing that negative to say either.

Movie #147: Die My Love

I feel so lucky to live in the time of Jennifer Lawrence’s brilliance.

There is a carnality and desperation and descent into madness and isolation that is so fucking gripping but soooo fucking hard to watch.

Also Sissy Spacek 🙌🏻🙌🏻

Movie #146: Christy

Not that it’s a high bar, but, Sweeney delivers the knockout performance of her career.

Merritt Wever: ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Movie #144: If I Had Legs I’d Kick You

It’s simply Rose Byrne’s world and we are all just living in it.

The most tense and exhausted I’ve been watching a movie in a long time.

Movie #143: Anniversary

The plot of this was absolutely NOT what I was expecting.

There’s a few too many characters to fully care about them all (sorry Zoey Deutch’s character) in this format. Felt potentially better suited for an FX series, especially given the frequent time jumps.

Movie #142: Hallow Road

Tour de force performances from both Rosamund Pike and Matthew Rhys.

A wee bit purposefully convoluted in the plot which doesn’t quite work as successfully as I think they hoped.

Movie #141: Vincent Must Die

Interesting premise but goes on far too long that by the end the premise has run its course multiple times.

But I did love seeing Vincent beat up a couple of the people.

Movie #140: BUGONIA

I’m such a Lanthimaniac and this banger only solidified it even more.

Stone and Plemons are MOTHER(ship).

Yorgos’ most approachable movie but still keeps you on your toes and hits the absurdity of the world in the most unexpected terms.

Movie #139:

Strays a bit from the source material & specific plot points but hits the broad strokes

Superb performances buttressed only by spectacular design choices (scenic and costume)

Wish it leaned a little more into the grotesqueness because by the end it’s just heavy on the Elordi

Movie #138: Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere

It’s just so damn monotonous.

But also I’m generally anti biopic…and I don’t really care about Springsteen…

Also this poster is deceivingly jovial
