IMO you're one of the few people who can successfully play "Six Degrees of Heiankyo Alien."

If you only care about games and need a web browser, Desktop Linux might actually be enough now to avoid the underlying bullshit. For normal people, though, I still feel there's enough "fighting the platform" when things go wrong that I couldn't recommend it.

It's funny, though. Most of the comments are "lol no you won't" (which I agree with). But there are more with "lol no you won't, but I get why," because Windows is _so_ frustrating to use that it's now more plausible for normal people even to consider it.

That says a lot.

I think Ars's write-up of it is more accurate,

arstechnica.com/gadgets/2025...

It would track that Google wouldn't mention the how or why this works, because that would require mentioning DMA, which Google doesn't like or want. So they need to phrase it so it doesn't credit it at all.
The EU made Apple adopt new Wi-Fi standards, and now Android can support AirDrop
Google’s Pixel 10 works with AirDrop, and other phones should follow later.

VS Code is a study in contrasts for OSS tooling.

It's a really great editor and the foundation for many other editors and IDEs. It's a hugely successful project.

And Microsoft will never make a dime off of it.

you can engineer all the safeguards you want and try to prevent every hole you can.

or, here's the thing, don't do it! let's not introduce the security hole in the first place!

if that logic wouldn't get someone to at least level 65 I don't know what would.
