That's the problem with politicians like Shaneen - talks cheep. Voter's gave full support to democrats on Tuesday, and by Sunday, the eight in the senate were spitting in the voters' faces. She's shown she stands for nothing, and as a consequence has labeled the whole party as "cavers".

The port from gtk+2 to gtk+3/4 was painful, but the devs stuck with it and have done a great job. There are still a few quirks in layers and the selection of items that are a bit awkward, but for non-CAD vector-drawing at its finest, inkscape is still the best. (not many survive the port as well)

Meh, I still enjoy compiz-fusion on KDE3. Snow-globe, fire on the screen, rain drops. I wonder if plasma ever got the physics fixed with the cylinder-rotate? The foreground scenery would hop up/down as if it were rotating a cube - not understanding a cylinder has a fixed-radius :)

The shortsightedness demonstrated is astounding. Seems snatching defeat from the jaws of victory is a governmental theme for November. An ecosystem without its apex predators -- isn't an ecosystem, its a testament to the ignorance and destructive nature of man.

I have one of those - named Topaz! Tail goes on forever, and he likes to show it off. Long fine hair, demands daily brushings so he can get the most out of show-off time with the tail. Many good memories, fox chases, no end of energy.

The judge (any judge) should make an immediate referral to the attorney's state bar for professional misconduct. Period. No questions asked, zero tolerance for the attorney's breach of affirmative duty of candor toward the tribunal. Disbarment will be swift, as it should be.

Indeed. And I try and be positive, but Schumer always finds a way to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Voters went with democrats on Tuesday, and democrats couldn't make it a week before spitting in the voters' face. Bent over and used like the neighbors dog again... That is sad.

Twas a good night, but not all the way around. Texans showed they are eager to weaken separation of powers approving a deceptively worded Prop 12 giving Hot-wheels power to meddle with the judicial commission composition and judges who rule contrary to the governor's wishes. Ignorance is costly.

Wonderful picture. We have a number of pairs in the local area and during spring, early summer they are quite talkative. The old "Hoo hoo, hoo cooks for you" (own mnemonic) rings through the pines for a couple of months.

Seems "Irrational exuberance" runs rampant again. What follows isn't pretty.

It appears the Kremlin holds significant sway over the orange president. Putin's life-goal has been to diminish US standing in the world. How better to do that than to screw your allies while turning the people against each other. The craven part is the capitulation of the entire party. Cowards.

Autocrat's playbook. Another sad day to be an American. Lady liberty weeps as our elected officials sit in obedient silence. I'm tired of days like these. Vote like your democracy depends on it -- it does.

When history looks back at the demise of American Democracy we have lived through, it will identify two as the most culpable. John Roberts, Jr. and Mich McConnell. Citizens United allowed aggregation of political money for long-term projects (2025), and the loss of Justice Garland, and much more...

Read the fine print, it's JaaS now (Jeans as a Service).... Honestly, I think I enjoyed the first 25 years of my life better, when the only technology around was the telephone that was permanently mounted to a wall in your home and was owned by the Bell Telephone Company...

This is also why the effort to privatize much of what NASA does/did hurts us all. NASA through the 80's was a gem in the history of what "We the people" have done and benefited from. Allowing that expertise to be siphoned off into the hands of a few wealthy private companies destroys our investment.

What, pragmatism and logic applied to the current state of things? A rare combination indeed. The people will need to speak loudly in '26 to make it possible. Each must know his part... to sew a new mentality ... (Neil Peart/Peter Talbot)

I doubt they ever will. The DOJ has no motivation to re-urge the merits for decision. That lays bare the collusion between the administration and the court to reach an agreed upon outcome. The right has what they wanted from the case. The rest was just a vehicle to get it before the obedient court.

It is a very bad day to be a lawyer, and it is a very bad day to be an American ... though most will remain blissfully unaware of just how bad. There has never before been another group of six on the court so willing to engage in intellectual dishonesty to sacrifice our Constitution. Liberty weeps.

Seems rhetorical. I have a different take, no I'm no socialist, but in the choice between (a) an incumbent previously under felony indictment, (b) a prior who resigned in disgrace under sexual harassment allegations or (c) anyone with integrity, pick (c) and discuss moderating campaign promises.

Neil Bove's turn next. The bar associations must become more proactive and not sit on their hands until a formal complaint is filed or a guilty plea is entered. Each attorney has sworn an oath to protect and defend the constitution. Any attorney failing in that regard should suffer the same fate.

It's a "look at the shiny object" move to give cover to the R members of the senate finance committee trying get the votes for the big beautiful tax giveaway and medicaid/care gutting bill. Best protest would be for all to slip away and leave Cheeto's troops looking like the intended props they are.

The improvement in clarity over the Hubble images from decades ago is stunning. Infrared sees though much of what is obscured at visual wavelengths. Never forget, we can do great things when we direct our talents and energies in productive directions. The distractions hurt us all.
