I'm a primary care doctor and a mom. I can think of few things that are as important to our lives as our health.

Call Congress and tell them: Their budget bill is bad for our health. Call them every day that health matters.

In celebration of #EarthDay, we are getting new wiring put in right now so we can replace our gas stove with induction. I am so excited to protect our planet and cook dinner without releasing toxic fumes into our home.

Healthy planet healthy people!

What are you doing for Earth Day?

This poster makes me think of all the ways I’ve learned to ignite service. It’s valuing people as human beings first, inspiring them to believe in their capacity to help others, setting them up to succeed in a shared vision. True service is born of love, not fear, and never hatred. #MOMSky

Magnolias have arrived in DC! A much needed reminder of the possibilities of renewal and beauty at winter’s end.

Just came back from the farmer’s market where I love chatting with our chicken farmer. She moved from DC to rural PA where she has a flock of pasture-raised chickens. Her dogs protect her chickens from predators so they can graze and eat worms and make tasty eggs. (thread) #MOMSky

Thank you, USAID. We see you. We appreciate you.

Our federal workers who build American power by saving lives around the world leaving their important work with boxes and dollies. Many in tears. Me too.

A crowd representing a grateful nation applauding as USAID workers walk out for the last time after emptying their offices.

The members of Congress just went into the building with cameras in tow. They represent the people, one of the equal branches of government. Let them in.

Huge crowd at a press conference outside USAID right now. USAID saves lives and protects our health security and must be allowed to continue its work on behalf of the American people. And the American people are not backing down.

Today I'm thinking of The Dawn of Everything: A New History of Humanity. No society is fully baked. We choose who we are and who has power. Example: ideas of democracy and freedom were heavily influenced by Indigenous American tribes - everyone had a say, nobody had full power over others. #booksky

How amazing is this explanation of the incoming winter weather from the Washington Post? Some people are skeptical of #science, but at its heart, it's just observation and figuring how the world works - hopefully to everyone's benefit. www.washingtonpost.com/weather/2025...

A book that shifted my perspective on the scope, significance, and connection of everything in our lives is was Astrophysics for People in a Hurry by Neal deGrasse Tyson. Every breath is possible because exploding stars created carbon and oxygen. We are tiny and precious all at once. #booksky

I loved Diary of a Young Naturalist written and read by Dara McAnulty, an Irish autistic teenager whose mostly autistic family is most at home in nature with the birds, critters, trees, and plants they love. He inspires me to spend more time in nature with my kids so they can love it too. #booksky

Various friends have been checking in to see how I'm doing. My path right now is to lean into kindness, wonder, joy - to fortify myself to better lead in the times ahead. Today, I'm thinking of a spot of awe - a tiny mushroom I met on a trail in New Hampshire.

Where are you finding wonder?

Got my annual COVID-19 shot today! I picked Novavax this year. I don’t expect to get very sick from COVID, but I have a friend who got long COVID this year, and that possibility is scary to this mama. As the holiday season gets going, I hope you have your fall vaccines to protect you too!
