Part of the issue is the US is so large. 2/3 of the population have no passport and do not travel outside. In the UK, almost all schoolkids would go on an exchange school trip to France, Spain or Germany. You're exposed to other cultures and realise they do things differently. It broadens your views

It came in 1988 under Thatcher. I started campaigning politically in 1990, partly as a result of this. Bi Michael Portillo supported it as a Minister! Local Labour councillors at the time were, in the majority, how can I say "not very supportive" of LGBT rights. Culture has shifted greatly since.

It's such rubbish. I was born in Zimbabwe but somehow I'm a "good" immigrant. There must be some reason. What could it be... didn't think I'd hear Enoch Powell again.
