Support your fellow humans. Cultivate your empathy. Stand up for the people who are in a truly vulnerable position. Those are the things our Constitution is built around and that our country is supposed to stand for.

And if you're not doing that now, ask yourself why not.

speech, please stop for a second.

It has *never* been the people in power who were banning speech, imprisoning those who say things they disagree with, or removing those others in power who don't toe the line no matter what who were the "good guys". History tells us a lot about this.

None of the above should solely belong to or be associated with a particular political party in the USA, but for whatever reason they seem to be in the year 2025 in the USA.

Protesting inhuman treatment of humans is not a bad thing, it's a good thing. Protesting genocide is not a bad thing, it's a good thing. Empathy and compassion are not bad things, they are good things.

Those "illegal" immigrants (and those that are here lawfully...there are a lot of those) from spanish-speaking countries are still human. Their children - born here or abroad - are still human. Prisoners and criminals from here or abroad - even murderers and

"Othering" a group is how they become less than human, and people who are seen as less than human are...not exactly treated well anywhere. Definitely not in the USA (Native Americans, African Americans, Japanese

Those policies and laws and the resulting incredible unfairness and inefficiency that they create are infuriating, and they set up a ready-made conflict that can distract us from all of the other things going on in government.

maintain that control.

Our immigration laws and quotas are, to put it mildly, complete shit.

People from all over the world wait years and *decades* for approval to immigrate to the USA. There's no reason for that. We can do a pretty thorough automated background check on someone these days

Those are all our *own* problems. Ones we have because of actions that everyday people and wealthy individuals and lobbyists and folks that only care about having the most and being in control know that those problems are needed in order for them to

We do have problems here. Poverty in the wealthiest nation on earth...possible (again) because of massive concentration of wealth at the top (again). Homelessness, food insecurity, and poor health because of the poverty. Abuses of power

I still believe - despite recent actions that make me so pissed off that I have difficulty even processing that rage - that the USA is a place where our most basic laws are intended to protect people from abuse by their government, to keep power in the hands of the people, and

When faced with a situation where I have a choice to take or support action that will harm other humans, I try really hard to think about what the result of that action will be for *all* of the humans involved, and do the thing that causes
