The name of the species, helenium, seems to derive from the Greek Helen; in fact, according to legend, the plant was born from the tears of Helen, wife of Menelaus, who was the cause of the Trojan War. In other times, it was cultivated for its medicinal root; having escaped cultivation, it can be found almost everywhere. The crops are used both for the production of liqueurs and for the pharmaceutical industry. Temple of #Dendera - This site was a center of the cult of #Hathor. There is evidence that the first building on the site went up around 2250 BCE. In Egypt many standing temples are built atop their predecessors. Pre-Ptolemy Hathor was the most revered goddess in ancient Egyptian worship.

Featuring a basilica, two birth houses, a sacred lake, and numerous other temples and shrines within its walls. Originally this temple housed the famous Zodiac of Dendera which is now displayed in Paris at The Louvre- the Egyptian government has asked for its return to no avail.
