I think we are moving away from "simple" APIs, and more complex but better structured and resilient APIs are naturally harder to build.

I think somewhere in the middleware docs it mentions all the middleware is FIFO, but yeah, it’s annoying. It’s also not clear ‘use’ is a middleware stack until lots of reading. Plus some conflict with each other so you sometimes have to reorder stuff to get the expected output.
