Personally, I like Stolas as a character, mostly cause of his complexity (I'm a sucker for a 3 Dimentional character), but objectively he IS a bad dad. He's extremely self-centered, and if you aren't in his orbit, he doesn't care. Via WAS once in his orbit, until Blitzø.
