I feel that this is indicative of the media approach to only focusing on "people like us" not those foreigners. Yet another worry about the nature and bias of our media coverage

The Tibet earthquake has caused even more damage, rescue is massively difficult and at least 126 people have died with at least 350 people injured. Coverage of this incident lasted a day or two and was then totally overshadowed by the fire.

The backlog isn’t the result of increasing numbers of asylum claims. It was either deliberate or incompetent by the last government, the result of a slow down in decision-making. Reducing it doesn’t depend on reducing arrivals.
