Starmer’s Orwellian compulsory ID cards won’t make a blind bit of difference on “illegal immigration” but will impinge on all our freedom. Scotland should be able to forge its own way with reactionary Westminster interference spying on our day-to-day life. #noID

This is my full article and press release (used by BBC and Guardian) My point: we may know the immediate cause was a campfire run wild, but behind this-climate change is the real cause, and that's all our responsibility. @scottishgreens.org

What’s wrong with UK (Anglo-centric) media? Utterly ignoring devastating fires in the Highlands. Shameful.

Really great to meet Professional Foodballer Zander Murray, and discuss overcoming homophobia and promoting inclusion in sport. Only 5 out of 130,000 professional footballers in the world are out! Sexuality shouldn't stop anyone being the best they can be. Team @scottishgreens.org on your side!

With mainstream parties backsliding on climate and resilience, cosying up to planet-killing lobbyists, and populists spreading fakery and lies, it's good to be out with the Moray Branch of the Scottish Greens—putting people and planet first. We are nature’s frontline.

Trump making more claims of ownership yesterday... "I own Aberdeen...I have a great warm spot for your country." might be news to the good folk of this fair city!

"Roads, roads, roads" seduces by romanticising driver "independence" while restricting the individual's freedom to access other transport. The A96 dualling is the NE's biggest red herring, distracting from inclusive, integrated transport for all. Who speaks for the common good? @scottishgreens.org

In the paper this week, climate breakdown takes many forms. the costs are many. Here is coastal erosion on the only road in and out of this peninsula village. One village and we used half our entire budget. Prepared for climate breakdown anyone? @scottishgreens.org

The ultra-rich have unchecked power, manipulating parties, media, and economies. Billionaires like Roman Abramovich, potentially owing £1bn in unpaid taxes to HMRC, show how elites avoid accountability. One rule for them, another for the rest of us. @scottishgreens.org

Just had an interview with "Good Morning Scotland" at 735am. Speaking up about A96, this conversation needs to be one centred on sustainable approaches to transport needs. Let's get beyond the narrative of "more roads" and into community led solutions, active travel, rail, and public transport.

When will we wake up? The Fairness Foundation reports that nearly two-thirds of Britons fear the ultra-rich's political influence is eroding democracy, driving economic shocks and environmental crises, and deliberately destabilizing social cohesion—risking decline or even collapse.

Millions of salmon are crammed into farms, getting lice and dowsed with antibiotics, anti-foulants & pesticides causing 17 million fish deaths yearly. The sea is then polluted with nitrates that fuel algae blooms, which feed jellyfish. Yet somehow, jellyfish are blamed for fish deaths. Unbelievable.

Confused.com links 20mph zones to lower car insurance costs, citing fewer incidents and increased safety. Meanwhile, Scotland is considering reducing the speed limit on single carriageways from 60mph to 50mph, saving 10% on fuel with little extra travel time. @scottishgreens.org

In 2023, a staggering 17.4 million Scottish salmon died on farms before harvest, exposing the industry's severe environmental damage. It’s time to question whether this unsustainable practice is worth the cost, as it jeopardizes both our ecosystems and Scotland's reputation.

In the news this week... my take on what we can do to cope with the winter and share in our humanity.

The great deceivers: Musk and Zuckerberg preach free speech while manipulating the who, what, when, and how of information. Tech dictators, aligned with political tyrants, dictate to democracies. Walk the talk or silence your lies. Open your doors, Transparency First! and we will meet you.

Concerned for friends today. The fires raging are fueled by human-caused climate breakdown, which intensifies extreme weather globally. This crisis accelerates deadly disasters, from wildfires to floods to heatwaves, threatening lives and ecosystems. Urgent action is vital to protect everyone.

Burning household rubbish, including plastics, in giant incinerators is now the UK’s dirtiest way to generate electricity. Nearly half of household waste, including soft plastics meant for recycling, is incinerated. This waste-full society needs to stop polluting its people and planet.

Starmer must stop running scared of Nigel Farage. Labour should expose that of the major forces harming the UK—Brexit and austerity—Farage is responsible for Brexit's ills (snake oil anyone?) and for opening the door to US billionaires looking to undermine our country for profit and political gain.

Just saying...

Subvert the vote!

❎Reform rumored to be offered £80M by Musk.
❎Labour took £4M from a tax-haven oil hedge fund pre-election, then backed £22B oil-aiding carbon capture plan.
❎Tories in office took £15M, then gave top Govt contracts to donor.

Democracy is up for sale—who really holds the power?

Ministers reject calls to block Musk's donations to Farage’s Reform UK, fearing a crackdown could backfire—boosting Reform UK or perhaps exposing Labour's own foreign funding. A stark test of political will versus strategic self-interest looms.

Scotland must break free from Westminster’s grip as Labour continues to back North Sea drilling, spewing CO2 equal to 30 years of UK homes, blocking a worker-led just transition. In a climate crisis, this fuels inequality, enriching the 1% while sacrificing the planet and its people. #StopRosebank

Does Labour have the courage to limit party funding to state grants, ensure independent manifesto reviews, and create a citizens' election assembly? It's time for real democracy—not the murky, self-serving Westminster version.
