Congress should file articles of impeachment agaisnt RFK, Jr. He is unambiguously dismantling the healthcare systems that have improved health and safety for generations of Americans.

I haven't seen Viewfinder listed yet in the thread, and I think it fits your puzzle interests.

Is the green pistachio? That's a fun touch! I did my Buche de Noel last night for a party. I like to add a sprinkle of powdered sugar for a snowfall effect. I went overboard with fungi this year.

N. K. Jemisin and S. A. Corey. The latter is a bit of a cheat, because one half of the duo had a few short stories published in the 1990s, but for actual books I think it is accurate.

I think that "Science [the] shit [out of] those Philly night squid!" is a perfectly admirable hobby.

Is Creative Director Sarah the one who draws Mother Earth erotica, or is that Lead Artist Sarah?

You are the best! As a member of CCL, I found your earlier articles on the topic to be invaluable.

How well does the SPEED act fit these needs? From your perspective, is appropriate to back? If not, would adding funds for local permitting by amendment tip the scale for you?

I have a CCL lobby meeting tomorrow with my congressional office to talk about the SPEED Act. I will gobble up anything you write about it.

The scariest part is that rebuilding is harder than protecting. If they didn't care to put up defenses, will they invest political capital to fix the damage? I am very concerned about how long the damage will go.

I think very few folks know that, prior to Columbus, the population of the Americas was comparable to the population of Europe. Obviously, the Americas are a much bigger landmass, but there was a lot of civilization here before virgin soil epidemics tore through.

I am currently preparing a sermon to honor the indigenous National Day of Mourning, based on the book Pathogenesis by Jonathan Kennedy. Just dipping into this history makes the present moment that much more gut-wrenching.

The reception Warren got when she spoke at the DNC convention last year was really striking. There was clearly a large contingent of the attendees who had a strong affinity for her.

@volts.wtf has made a similar case that solar + storage + smart distribution/smart load was the future all along. I think commercial fusion will be economical, but it will only garner a fraction of the market as solar, wind, geo, and storage gobble up a significant majority.

Oh, the death toll is accurate. It is the lack of national mourning. There was mourning at various points in the death toll, but I agree with the sentiment that there was not a spirit of collective morning at the 1+ million number.

This is not uniquely American, although the death rates in the US were outliers despite our vaccine access. Many countries had "throw the bums out" election outcomes between 2021 and 2024 that seem to correlate to unresolved pandemic grief and resentment. But US politics has handled it terribly.

By rights, the excess deaths from Trump's incompetence, disinterest, and vanity should have been utterly disqualifying. He should be a pariah. But like Westworld robots, US culture and media decided, "It doesn't look like anything to me."
