I'll say this though, the current 8 man raid series called "The Arcadion" makes trudging through all the story absolutely worth it. The Arcadion has some of the best (and most interesting) battles in the game right now, plus all the music are absolute bangers so that helps a lot too.

Endwalker nerfed things SUPER hard to make it more friendly so newer players could catch up on the story. Dawntrail (the latest expansion) dungeons/trials are a little bit higher in difficulty, it really seems that SE wants the bulk of the challenge to be in EXs/Ults/and the Relic Weapon areas.
