Good jazz, good dogs, good food, some nature photography, and the world can be a pretty damned nice place.
Welp. His band is, in fact, large. And they put on a really, really, good show. Lyle Lovett works with some truly killer musicians. They run this like a jazz show, featuring each person on stage at some point. Thanks @lylelovett.bsky.social for such an entertaining evening.

Seriously testing my general 'live and let live' philosophy. This bundle of fun under the eaves of house near a door... it's as big as two of my fairly large fists.

Terrible photo, fun subject. A bunch of ducks taking refuge from the Texas summer by hanging out in a pond fountain.

Exhibits A, B, and C. I contend that it cannot be done. No amount of talented photographers success will convince me otherwise.

I’m just happy it’s dry. But…

Well hello friend! Texas Spiny Lizard, I think. Shopping for lunch by the front door.

Indeed. Here's one wreaking havoc on a cicada

Pity Chrome's AI captioning. Just can't quite get this on.

They’re odd critters. Used to have them in the yard here, regularly. Ambling, shambling, goofy things, compared to the possums, who’ll put on a big show of fierceness, then play dead in a most convincing way as my dogs all gathered around and hassled him. Fifteen minutes later he disappeared.

Well…bringing in doggies for the night and her this guy. A first for me.

Matched pair of mourning dove hatchlings. These guys are nesting at face level right by the front door. Mom was off looking for breakfast, so I captured this as I headed out to the car today.

Flip side of spring. Not a lot of bugs out yet, and this robin is contemplating eating an old, dry holly berry.

Well... I guess spring has sprung. I'm thrilled to report I've got a nesting pair of Eastern Phoebes who have honored me by building a nest over my front door. They've been absent for the past couple of springs, but they've returned. Not great pics, but I'm just happy to see these kids back again!

One more from the winter series: A perched Great Blue Heron trying to keep a foot warm on a winter day.

Stuffed belted kingfisher. I can't ever get decent shots of the real ones. 😃

Another older image from this time of year... Big ol' bobcat in the woods near the Trinity River and a broader shot of the bare redbud tree orchard he was hanging out in.

Yo! Crows in the snow, eating to grow. Rehashing some older winter shots I hadn't pulled out in a while.

Rare-ish snowfall provides some nice contrast in what's available to photograph.
