Something that's always fascinating in #NavalHistory is how seabed conditions affect preservation. Sink in the Black or Baltic Seas and there's a good chance much of a wreck will be preserved. Sink in the Mediterranean and if you're lucky we'll find the ram and the less perishable cargo.

Back in the early days, torpedo boats couldn't go very far and dedicated mothers hips were vulnerable, limiting utility on the high seas. One solution tried by the Italians was government theie ironclads 'hangars' aft to carry them into battle. Didn't catch on, but it was a nice idea. #NavalHistory
