IMCAN delivered mosque-based and online workshops co-led by a female doctor + a religious scholar.
261 women joined across England & Scotland.
Preliminary results:
✔ Knowledge about cancer screening more than doubled
✔ Intentions to get screening soared
✔ Many women obtained cancer screening!

Why do all this in US and UK? Because Muslim women are less likely to attend routine screening for breast, bowel, and cervical cancer—leading to later diagnoses and poorer outcomes. We wanted to change that and provide
a blueprint for others to use the same program

We started in the US @medicineandislam.bsky.social with @americancancersoc.bsky.social identifying barriers to screening, designing a novel method👇 to create religiously tailored messages & partnering with Chicago mosques to host workshops w/a female scholar & a female MD to promote screening.

Building on Prof. Sulmasy of @kieatgu.bsky.social 's description of intrinsic, attributed, and inflorescent dignity, we map out Islamic analogues and use cases to illustrate how they apply to end-of-life healthcare decisions.

I am not sure; sometimes organ donation/transplantation conceptually reduces us to interchangable biological parts; humans are much more than that. I would want a synthethic supply
