3D HOT PAWS sees its first action (I moved it out of the unit during firing). It captured the fire-induced changes in winds, temperature and relative humidity as well as detected changes in solar radiation from smoke throughout the burn. Overall a success with promise for good fire decision support.

3-D HOT PAWS watching over our burn unit and the hazy Pacific through several fall weather events. We hope these mobile, low-cost, 3-d printed portable automated wx station for wildland fire stations can gap fill weather data in places with large microclimate gradients. Is the RH 96% or 56%?
